Bret and I woke up Saturday to the most perfect ‘fall’ day. The air was fresh and crisp. This was a nice change from the heat wave we’ve had recently and made us even more excited to get up and get ready for Erin and Jesse’s wedding. Looking back, our first coffee date with these two seems like light years ago. The four of us instantly hit it off and have gotten the chance to hang out several times since then. I’m almost certain that Erin and Jesse were sent into our lives on purpose. We needed a little bit of their fun and exciting spirit in our lives. They’re so sweet, full of life, and laugh non-stop. We truly feel that we have created a special relationship with them and they have evolved from clients to friends. We had the best time photographing their wedding at Neu Chapel on the University of Evansville’s campus in Evansville, Indiana.
The girls’ day began at Salon One in Evansville, Indiana with hairstylist, Julie Robertson. When we first entered the room, a bottle of champagne was being opened, and the room was filled with giggles and joy (and donuts!!). Brea Nolen was there with Lush working her makeup magic on the girls. Before I go into much more detail, I have to give a shout out to Erin’s Maid of Honor, Becca. She was the most loving and serving MOH I think I’ve ever encountered. She was very attentive and it brought me such joy to witness this BFF relationship at its best. You rock, Becca!
We then made our way to Neu Chapel at the University of Evansville, where Erin and Jesse would be exchanging vows in front of a group of their closest family and friends later that afternoon. The Neu Chapel is the perfect, cozy setting for a fall wedding. The chapel was full of charm and ornate details. The University of Evansville’s campus was the perfect setting for some gorgeous photos. This time of year, campus is filled with trees changing colors, and some of the most beautiful flowers and architecture around. If you’ve ever toured around this campus, you know exactly what I’m talking about!
Bret and the groomsmen explored around campus for some bridal party shots, while I shot some of the girls in their stunning wine colored dresses from David’s Bridal. Erin looked absolutely breathtaking in her gown from Ella Park Bridal. She was easily one of the most beautiful brides EVER. Her dress, her hair, and her makeup helped, but the joy and happiness Erin portrayed made her the most beautiful of all! One of the most precious moments from the whole day was getting to do a reveal before the ceremony to her Ba. Ba is Erin’s great grandfather and would be escorting her down the aisle to Jesse. We got Ba in place, while Erin snuck up behind him to surprise him. His face was priceless and easily one of the most precious things I’ve ever witnessed. He was absolutely tickled and could not stop gushing about how beautiful Erin looked.
Next we headed into Neu Chapel for the ceremony. It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony, and Jesse’s face as Erin walked down the aisle was our FAV! Jesse had been mentioning forever about how excited and anxious he was for that very moment. When Erin headed down the aisle, Jesse’s face immediately broke out into the biggest smile. It was one of those fairytale wedding moments that you read about in magazines!
After wandering the campus of the University of Evansville with their bridal party and families for more pictures, it was time to party. We headed down to the Old Post Office in downtown Evansville for their reception. Doug Patberg was responsible for the beautiful decorations throughout the venue. He did an excellent job of tying in the history of the venue to Erin and Jesse’s reception dreams. When we first walked through the doors, the terms elegant and classic came to mind. Guys, it was GORGEOUS!!
After a delicious dinner from Just Rennies, some pretty great speeches, and some delicious cake, the party began. Let’s pause a moment and talk about this wedding cake. Bret and I have become quite the wedding cake connoisseurs and this cake was to-die-for. Gayla Cake’s made the fluffiest wedding cake EVER! It was such a blast watching their friends and family tear up the dance floor with music by Spectrum Sound. I don’t know that the dancing ever stopped Saturday night!
As the night came to an end, Erin and Jesse still had the same smiles on they’d been wearing all day. They are two of the happiest, in-love couples that we have met to this day. As they left, the guests did a grand exit that involved lots of love and sparklers. Every aspect of this beautiful fall day was perfect and Erin and Jesse deserved every bit of it!
Erin and Jesse — thanks so much for having us photograph your wedding. We have so much love for you guys and we are so thankful we met. We hope that you have a happy marriage and love these sneak-peeks we’re sharing with you!
