Downtown Indianapolis Engagement

Our busy season is definitely upon us with oh so many engagement sessions and weddings on the schedule! Is it even considered work when you don’t feel like you’re actually working?!

Meet Kayla and Devin – one of the sweetest couples we’ve worked with to date! We are so incredibly excited to share their elegant downtown Indianapolis, Indiana engagement session! Kayla graduated high school with Bret back in 2010, so we were so excited to get to meet her fiancé, Devin. When Kayla first mentioned to us wanting to shoot in downtown Indianapolis, we were over-the-moon excited. We always love exploring new areas (and getting a few days out of town never hurt). Kayla gushed about Indianapolis and how much the city meant to her and Devin. They have created endless memories there, plus the history and architecture are hard to beat!

We went up early to scout out the perfect locations for their session. And oh my goodness…we never realized what a gorgeous state capital that we have — WOW! We decided that we first wanted to start at the Downtown Canal Walk. The Canal Walk is a popular metropolitan retreat in downtown Indy that features a 3-mile loop for exploring. This waterfront is sprinkled with pedal boats and gondolas, bicycles, and the most alluring urban scenery! We met Kayla, Devin, and their sweet pup, Argon, at the Canal Walk to start their session. Argon was one of the happiest, sweetest dogs that we’ve ever met. (We are already planning puppy play dates with Carson!) Kayla wore the most adorable blush dress and Devin’s outfit complemented her outfit perfectly against the downtown buildings.

Once Argon had gone for the day, we spent a little longer perusing the Canal Walk with these two!  We just can’t even describe how perfect Kayla and Devin are together. They had a very natural chemistry that was obvious to everyone around them – a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. Not much posing was needed here – they naturally curled into each other’s arms without hesitation. They both made this a super enjoyable session! (The kind of sessions photographers dream of!) We loved spending the afternoon and evening giggling together!

Our last stop was the Indiana War Memorial. If you’ve ever ventured to the Memorial, you know that there are steps. A LOT OF STEPS. We didn’t need to plan a workout into this trip because 300+ steps to get to the top was plenty enough! Once we made it to the top, though, oh my gosh – those steps were worth every single exerted breath! The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking. Kayla changed into the most perfect lavender dress for these shots. Those two literally danced on top of the world overlooking downtown Indianapolis. Talk about romantic! We could not have asked for better weather and the sun setting over the War Memorial was the icing on the cake. It was the perfect ending to our session. Kayla and Devin’s engagement session has us so excited to shoot their upcoming wedding next March at the Mill Top Banquet and Conference Center in Noblesville, Indiana.
