A fun-loving couple, loads of energy, and the perfect location! What more could we ask for out of Taylor and Sederick’s big day?! We were lucky enough to get to spend quite a bit of time with these two before their wedding day between lunch dates, field trips, and engagement sessions, so naturally we were so tickled to get to be able capture this special day for the Mucker’s.
I started their wedding day by meeting Taylor and her bridesmaids at the Hampton Inn and Suites in downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. The girls were getting ready in one of the hotel’s suites. When I first walked in, I was absolutely mesmerized by the floor-to-ceiling- windows that wrapped around the ENTIRE room. We had a picture-perfect view of downtown Owensboro and stunning natural lighting (this made my photographer heart so full). Taylor bounced around the room with excitement while the room filled with laughter and smiles from her very attentive bridesmaids. Not only did I get to experience this day with her bridal party, but I also got to experience these moments with the couple’s two children, Oakleigh and Jarvis. These two kiddos added a whole other level of fun to the day. They were well-behaved throughout the entire day and left the whole bridal party in stitches more than once. Oakleigh was so vivacious and interested in timeline of the day. She was very attentive and loved watching Taylor get transformed into a beautiful “princess”. Stephanie Simmons did a fabulous job on Taylor’s makeup – it was simple, natural, and radiant! She looked breathtaking in her beautiful lace gown from Bridal Warehouse with the most simple and classic front braid framing her sweet face. I can totally see why Oakleigh thought she looked like a princess! It was incredible for me to be able to watch Taylor take on the day as a new bride, but also to play her mom role, as well. (She’s a pretty amazing momma if you ask me!)
I took some bridal party portraits as we wandered through downtown Owensboro of the bride with her girls, and Bret with Sederick and his groomsmen. (SIDEBAR: if you’re looking for AMAZING wedding portraits, downtown Owensboro, Kentucky is where it’s at! So many different beautiful and unique locations! And perhaps our favorite part? The DREAMY lighting!) Now, if you noticed, I mentioned that we did bridal party portraits with the bridesmaids and groomsmen separate. Why, you ask? While working on Taylor and Sederick’s timeline well before the wedding, we brought up the very common idea of a “first look”. A “first look” is when we create an intimate moment between the bride and groom before the ceremony without all the hustle and bustle of the day. These typically are very emotional moments for all parties involved. When this moment was discussed, Sederick was adamant that he wanted to see Taylor walk down the aisle. He did not want to see her before the ceremony and he wanted that to be his “first look”. For a groom to be that persistent about his decision, we almost melted on the inside. And, boy, oh boy, did he deliver?!
With that being said, lots of coordination and planning went into the arrival of the bridal party to the ceremony. We did everything that we could to make sure not to spoil this special moment for Taylor and Sederick. The groomsmen headed to First Free Will Baptist Church first before Taylor and the bridesmaids. Chatter filled the chapel as the guests flowed into the church. Once the ceremony got started, Taylor and her father made their way down the aisle, and Sederick got his first glance. He immediately reacted as tears welled up in his eyes. Once he started crying, everyone in the crowd started to cry. It was a very emotional and intimate moment being in the presence of that kind of love and adoration. It was almost as if Taylor and Sederick were in their own little world, smiling, holding hands, and just enjoying every. Single. Moment. It was one of those ceremonies that instantly gave us the feel-goods.
After they said “I do”, we got the whole bridal party together to capture some portraits under the sunset, as well as capture the intimate sunset shots between just Taylor and Sederick. The whole day went so perfectly and smoothly. Everyone involved was definitely “Team Taylor and Sederick” to make sure that their day was stress-free.
We headed to the reception hall at Blessed Mother Catholic Church which had been beautifully decorated by Kim Nowak with some of the prettiest floral decorations. These people were ready to party and party they did. All night long the newlyweds and their guests danced the night away with music by “Have a Nice Day” and they all took full advantage of the photo booth that was provided by Out of the Box Photo Booth! They also got to enjoy a FABULOUS meal by Odelia’s and when we say fabulous, we mean it! Odelia’s has quickly become one of our favorite wedding caterers. Each time, the meals get better and better (if that’s even possible!!) Did we mention this stinking awesome couple also had an ICE CREAM BAR?!? It was an awesome touch to the already perfect day!
Taylor and Sederick were so genuinely happy and in love and they just enjoyed every minute of their wedding day! Days like these are reasons why we LOVE what we do! We are SO SO grateful to have been trusted with documenting it all. Congratulations to the Mucker’s! Enjoy your sneak peek!
