Wow! 2017 wedding season has come and gone. Can you believe it?!! As the years pass by, I feel as if the years pass by more quickly and as our business grows, I become more and more grateful for each client that we meet throughout our journey. Allie and Brad are no different. Their wedding day was joyful in every way!
Allie and Brad were married on a dreary Saturday afternoon. They were troopers about the entire day as the forecast called for 100% chance of rain ALL day. But, a little rain never hurt anybody and at the end of the day Allie and Brad knew that rain or shine, they would still be married. Their positivity was a bright light on a gloomy day!
We met Allie that morning at their home to help she and her bridesmaids get ready. When we walked in the door, the girls looked adorable in their matching robes getting pampered by “Brides by Aubree”. They were all dancing around the house while music and genuine laughter filled the rooms. The girls wore the most adorable maroon dresses and Allie looked phenomenal in her dress by Beth Carter’s – it had pockets!!!! How stinking cool is that?!!? The dress fit her perfectly in every way, personality included.
We had a chance before the ceremony to head into St. Henry before the rain hit. We captured a few bridal party shots. This group looked very classy and pristine in their navy and maroon hues. We have really enjoyed watching colored tuxes become popular over the years. They really can add something special to a wedding day! The bouquets also added a beautiful touch to this bridal party’s overall look. The wind was brutal on Saturday, but this group handled it so well. We liked to call the wind-blown look our “Beyoncé look” and if you ask me, we totally nailed it.
Next, we headed into the ceremony at St. Henry Catholic Church. Southern Indiana is full of beautiful churches in the area, but we fully believe that St. Henry’s delicate and ornate details throughout put it at the top of the list. Father Ryan delivered a beautiful message for the newlyweds. Once the ceremony had commenced and Allie and Brad made an exit, a gut feeling inside of me told me to follow them. In that instant, the rain still had not hit our area and I knew I needed to do something about it. According to the forecast, we had 8-10 minutes to work with. We wanted to take advantage of this opportunity, so we headed outside with the bride and groom before their grand exit for some bridal portraits. We captured some of the most beautiful shots with Allie and Brad snuggling together in the chilly weather. I am so incredibly thrilled that we made the decision to capture those shots because right after Allie and Brad made their grand exit, Mother Nature graced us with a downpour – perfect timing!
Thankfully for us, St. Henry Catholic Church was the perfect place to capture some beautiful family photos, as well as bridal party photos after the ceremony. The job that Bret and I get to do is something that we treasure, especially when we get to work with fabulous couples like Allie and Brad, as well as their family and friends. Couples like Allie and Brad are a constant reminder to us that marriage is about more than just the wedding day – it’s about true, everlasting love.
The bridal party was ready to celebrate! We all loaded up and before heading to the reception, the bridal party decided to stop at a few bars on the way. It was such a fun way for the bridal party to celebrate their best friends getting married. Before we headed to the Gaslight in Huntingburg, Indiana, we snuck in a couple umbrella shots with the couple. These may be our favorite pictures from the entire day!! Guys, to watch a couple on Cloud 9, loving every second of their wedding day is so rewarding to us!! I cannot express to you much we love our jobs and our clients!
The reception was held at Huntingburg Events Center. This reception was full of fun, family, dancing and friends just like any other, but Erin’s Events brought their “A” game. I had known that this wedding was going be amazing – it’s obvious that Allie has an eye for style and detail. Plus, when she brought on board the most awesome decorating team with Erin’s Events, I knew we were in for a treat. The reception was on the next level of beautiful. Her use of of succulents and greenery blew me away and brought Allie’s vision to life. I am so very impressed with how she transformed the area. Fabulous job, Erin!!
On a side note, Southridge High School means a lot to Allie and Brad. Other than the usual high school memories, Allie’s dad is on the coaching staff for the football team at Southridge. It just so happened that Southridge had a semi-state game the same day as Allie’s wedding. When we walked into the reception, the game was playing, and everyone was beaming with hometown pride. The room was full of cheers of joy and happiness when the boys brought home a Semi-State win! I am not sure if it is the small-town girl in me, but I get all warm and fuzzy on the inside watching hometowns come together in moments like that! (Congratulations to the Southridge Raiders on an Indiana 2A State title!!)
With uncontainable smiles, faithful prayers and lots of dancing, Allie and Brad began their lifelong journey together on that beautiful weekend. When I look back on this day, I am not sure I stopped smiling all day. It is very clear that your love for the other people in your lives is intensely shared by your family and friends. Allie and Brad, thank you for braving the storm with us to get some great shots! We cannot wait to see what the future holds for you.
