A Classic West Baden Springs Engagement Session

We finally made it to the middle of the week. There is just something so exciting about making it to mid-week…especially this time of year!! I absolutely love fall, but is it just me or is this time change for the birds?! It makes our weeks feel longer and when we are finally getting a good thing going for the day, the sun is setting?! Wait, what?! It is literally only like 4 pm, people!! Maybe a sweet engagement blog post will boost my spirits!! There’s no doubt that introducing Megan and Will to you all will have me all smiles!

We arrived in French Lick, Indiana, at the West Baden Springs Hotel for Megan and Will’s engagement session so I just knew that it was going to dreamy with a capital D!! The West Baden Springs Resort is an upscale resort nestled in the hills of southern Indiana. This resort has so much history, character, and charm!! We were so so so unbelievably thrilled and excited to shoot this session. We were jumping for joy as we got out of the car to meet Megan and Will. It was legitimately the most beautiful fall day EVER. There were so many beautiful oranges, reds, and all the magical fall colors around us!! Megan’s creamy and cozy sweater was the perfect addition to the fall background!! We had a blast exploring the grounds with them and a stranger would not have known that we had just met because there were an endless amount of giggles!!

My favorite thing about Megan, Will and their session was that they were audibly nervous about their session. I absolutely love when people are open and transparent about their nervousness or fear. Pictures are vulnerable and awkward and we 100% get that. Our job is to help our clients with that awkwardness and show them how to embrace it! I 100% promise that the extremely awkward “smell her cheek” pose wins EVERY time — trust the process!!  Instead of being afraid and letting their fear take over, Megan and Will listened to our tips and took it like champs!! Bret and I have learned the perfect dynamic throughout the years. My job is to help with the posing, the hair, outfit issues, etc. What do you do with your hands?!?! That is my job!! Bret snaps all the photos from behind the camera while I do my thing! I absolutely loved that by the end of the session, they were naturals. By the two of them willing to be helped and guided, we landed some AWESOME pictures!! How could we not though?! That royal blue dress paired with Will’s white and blue plaid dress shirt against the most amazing backdrop?! I also love that Megan added the most simplistic touch with her strands of pearls —TO-DIE-FOR!!

Before finishing up with the session, we decided to venture over to French Lick Hotel at sunset. (You know us…we’re a sucker for that golden hour!!)  Both hotels are full of so much history and just the most beautiful architecture — we could not have asked for a better location!! Add in a sweet couple and we have ourselves one gorgeous photo shoot! This session has easily become one of our favorites! We absolutely love Megan and Will and cannot wait for their wedding!
