I honestly think that one of our favorite parts of our jobs is getting to reconnect with people from our pasts! We have had the pleasure of working with so many past coworkers, friends, and classmates and we have had the BEST experiences! Abby and Stratton are no different! We went to high school with both of them (which literally feels like ages ago!!) We have known these two for forever so we were sooooo excited to be a part of this journey with them! We shot their engagement session, met them for date night, and sat down with them for a coffee date, so we were so stinking ready to see them tie the knot!!
The forecast for their wedding day was giving us a few anxious feelings, if we are being honest. The Friday before their wedding we were hit with what seemed like a monsoon and we had a few hesitations because Abby and Stratton were planning on an outdoor ceremony. The forecast kept flip-flopping back and forth between storms and sunshine so the day was seeming to be unpredictable. Luckily for us, the day ended up being MAGICAL! I try to remind our brides that rain or shine, you’re still tying the knot and at the end of the day, you’re married! Abby and Stratton didn’t mind the forecast and laughed, smiled and celebrated all day in a big way.
We arrived to the Evansville Country Club in Evansville, Indiana to the girls being pampered by the hair and makeup artists. As the girls excitedly got dressed, Bret and I were scouting out our options in case of rain. We knew we couldn’t get too far from the clubhouse (in case we needed to sprint back for shelter), but we wanted Abby and Stratton’s first look to be extraordinary! We came across the perfect spot that had a beautiful view of the rolling hills of the golf course and the most gorgeous shot of the Evansville skyline. We just knew that we had found the perfect space for their special moment and we were not disappointed!!
We got into place and the videographers, Selah Productions, followed. Side note: we are OBSESSED with this husband and wife videography team. Actually, the word “obsessed” may be an understatement. Anywayyyy, back to the first look — the four of us were ready to capture the moment! Stratton turned around to see Abby and let out the most excited “OOOH!!” and it was literally the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen! They jumped into each other arms and erupted into the sweetest of giggles. It was completely obvious how excited Abby was to see her groom. Stratton gained the sweetest twinkle in his eye in that moment and it’s a look I’ll never forget!
We got through the bridal party photos and snapped some pictures of Abby and Stratton out on the golf course as quickly as we could without rushing. We were constantly watching the radar and kept our eye on a rain cloud that was heading our way! With perfect timing, everyone tucked into the clubhouse as it started to rain. Luckily, the country club has full of back-up plans in case of rain so we were still able to snag some great shots! Everyone around us was having a great time and honestly, you couldn’t even tell it was raining outside around us.
The skies cleared and the rain stopped right before the ceremony started. Believe it or not, the sun was shining down on us as the ceremony commenced — Mother Nature pulled through that afternoon!! Abby and Stratton partook in an absolutely beautiful ceremony. At the very end of the ceremony, the COOLEST thing ever occurred! EVANSVILLE WAS HOSTING AN AIR SHOW! Right as they were declared husband and wife, planes flew over top of us. Airplanes roared through the sky above us right as Abby and Stratton shared their first kiss as husband and wife. The timing was ideal and it was such a fun moment!
After the ceremony, we ventured out with the newlyweds and our sweet videographer friends for their sunset session. They were so happy and soaking up alllllll of the newly wedded bliss. We were so lucky to get to share in those moments with them. We watched them dance the night away with their family and friends enjoying every moment. Abby and Stratton, we love you both so much and cannot wait to see where this life takes the two of you!
