If you have been following us for anytime at all, you know that we love a good road trip! We were so pumped to get the chance to load up for Kelsey and Caleb’s wedding day in Carterville, Illinois. We got to travel to the most beautiful winery called Walker’s Bluff and oh my goodness, it was MAGICAL. I think I ooh’ed and ahh’ed all day long 😂 Walker’s Bluff is one of those hidden gems in the middle of nowhere that is absolutely dripping with oodles of character!! We knew it was going to be a great wedding day from the first time we ventured with Kelsey and her parents for their field trip. We were so stinking excited when that day finally arrived!!
We arrived on the morning of their wedding to Kelsey and her girls in the bridal suite giggling and getting ready. Now here comes the amazing part — they were ready an hour ahead of schedule! AN HOUR…you all, that is unheard of!! That extra hour meant that we could get a head start on all the fun shenanigans. There was so much more time for fabulous photos, giggles, and snuggles which we were oh so thankful for!
It was one of those hot fall days where summer was still hanging around. Most of the time that can cause some aggravation, but we worked with a great group!! Even through the warm weather, everyone was so full of love and laughter. When it came time for Kelsey and Caleb to share their first look, they erupted into giggles. There was so much joy and hugging in that moment. It was such a beautiful embrace between the two of them. Once they were finished looking each other over, they turned to look toward us to start on their bridal portraits. We exchanged laughter and joy in that amazingly beautiful moment as they realized that they indeed weren’t the only ones in the room at that moment, LOL.
We spent the rest of the afternoon tucking into pretty pockets of light around Walker’s Bluff property. I’m pretty sure that our favorite spot had to be down by the cave door. This scene was legit out of this world!! There was a big beautiful wooden arched door covered in all kinds of gorgeous ivy. It looked straight out of a magazine! We did a lot of their bridal party photos there and honestly, who can blame us?!?! Just look how they turned out!!
After we knocked out the bridal party photos, it was time to tie the knot! The ceremony location was in a wine cave which was unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. IT WAS INCREDIBLE! The cave was so intimate and cozy. Watching Kelsey and Caleb tie the knot in front of their family and friends in such an intimate setting was unbelievable. I am OBSESSED! It was breathtakingly beautiful!
After they said their “I do’s”, we ventured to the bar area for the reception. There was so much dancing and celebrating. The room was full of so many high spirits as Kelsey, Caleb, and their guests partied the night away. The cherry on top of the night was the sparkler photo op as the newlyweds danced in between all of the sparklers. Those photos turned out AMAZING!! I can’t even begin to describe how much we adore Kelsey and Caleb, their families, and the bridal party. We were so lucky to be chosen to be the ones to capture their big day!!! 😃
