A Downtown Newburgh Spring Engagement Session

We are back to business and back to doing what we LOVE! It felt SO wonderful to have our cameras back in our hands and kicking off our first session with Blaire and Matt was absolutely magical.  We spent the gorgeous spring afternoon venturing around downtown Newburgh and giggling with these two like old friends.

Let’s dive into Blaire & Matt’s sweet love story!

How did you meet?!

“Matthews mom was my freshman year Spanish teacher, so I knew of him and he knew of me. We went to different high schools so we were never friends but we knew who each other were. At the end of our freshman year of college, he saw a post that I put on twitter and thought it was funny, so he added me on snapchat and we started talking.  He asked me to go on a date when I got home from college and the rest is history.”

What was your first date?

“We like to say our first date was “semi-blind” because we had never met in person but we knew who each other were from mutual friends and high school. Our first date was to Ropongi in Evansville where we got hibachi and then we made our way over to Orange Leaf for some dessert. After that we sat in his car and just talked for forever and made plans to see each other again soon!

We say our first date was our favorite just because everything seemed so natural and we hit it off great. After that we planned on seeing each other in the next few days and things went great.”

How did he propose?

“A few months prior I told Matthew that I really wanted Christmas pajamas this year. Later on, he told me he ordered us some but he wouldn’t tell me what they looked like. He said I would get them before Christmas so we could be that couple and wear them around the holidays. On December 21st, we were supposedly going out to eat for a birthday dinner. I met him at his house and his parents left ten minutes early so that they could get a table. After they left, he told me that the pajamas had came in and he wanted me to open them while it was just the two of us! When I opened the box, the pajamas had “Future Mrs. Bertram” on the front and he pulled out the little green box and got down on one knee in front of the Christmas tree. After I cried A LOT, he told me that our families and best friends were actually outside waiting on us! The rest of the night we celebrated our engagement with everyone! He customized my ring himself and it is absolutely perfect.”

What are your favorite movies?

“All Harry Potter movies, The Hangover, scary movies for Blaire, comedies for Matt.”

If you could go anywhere on a vacation, where would you two go?

“Somewhere tropical with a good beach, lots of sun, and fun things to do.”

What’s something you are both passionate about in life?

“Blaire has always been passionate about serving others and helping those around her, so getting her dream job as a pediatric nurse was a dream come true. Matt is passionate about his studies and can’t wait to graduate to help others as well as a chiropractor. We both love family and quality friend time.”
