Christine & Zach’s Anniversary Session in Downtown Evansville

Can you say #marriagegoals?! AHH!! Christine and Zach are about to hit TEN YEARS of wedded bliss & wanted to celebrate with some fun photos!  WE ARE OBSESSED!!! The moment we met these two, we knew that they were the real deal…they are truly so sweet together!! We sincerely had a blast exploring Downtown Evansville with Christine and Zach and wish we could spend forever capturing these adorable snuggles.  Ten years down…100 more to go!! Happy Anniversary you two!!

How long have you been together? How long have you been married?!

“As of this past May 3 we’ve been dating for 15 years. I still call Zach my forever boyfriend and we celebrate dating anniversaries every year. We’ve been married for almost 10 years, September 10, 2021 will be our official 10 year anniversary.”

Tell us your love story! How did you meet? How did he propose?!

“We met a residence hall battle of the sexes at the University of Evansville. Zach says he was quite smitten the moment he laid eyes on me, (HA!) I just remember how competitive and witty he was. He always had me laughing from the very beginning. We were friends for several months and it wasn’t until the next Spring semester after we met that he asked me out on an official date–IHOP and a scary movie. We dated for 5 years and in the summer he surprised me with a trip to St. Louis to see Michael Buble and go to the art museum there. I remember on the car ride over jokingly slapping his leg and him freaking out because unbeknownst to me, the ring was in his pocket. In the park outside the art museum he got done on one knee and asked me to marry him as we turned around we realized we’d had an audience and a couple of ballet dancers were giving us a standing ovation from this little bridge across the reflecting pool. It was a total unexpected surprise for me (Christine), but as Zach knows I love surprises!”

What do you like best about being married?

Him: “Everyday with Christine is like spending the day with my best friend and I’m so thankful that I found someone who shares so many of the same things– goals, passions, etc. Christine inspires me to be the best version of myself and I look forward to every day as a new adventure.”

Her: “He literally said part of my answer, LOL! But being married to Zach is the gift of getting to spend everyday with my best friend. He makes me laugh daily, even when I’m in no mood to be laughing. He amplifies the best in me and tempers my worst. We always joke that he is a water sign and I’m a fire sign and together we make steam. I’m just really grateful that my partner in life always makes me feel seen.”

What’s your favorite memory of the last year?

Him: “This last year was such an abnormal year in the grand scheme of things. Being able to work from home and spend more time together each day has been a blessing.”

Her: “We love to travel together, experience new places, eat new food, but this year really forced us to embrace our inner home bodies. For us this past year was more about just being–watching the seasons pass at our house, taking care of our landscaping, and just spending time together with no plans or agenda. That pace of life is probably my favorite memory from this last year.”

What was your all time FAV date together?

Him: “For me I don’t have a specific date in mind, but a time that stands out to me was our last day in Hawaii when we vacationed there. We were waiting for our flight and we decided to go to the beach for one last time and I remember us dancing on the beach and soaking up the scenery as much as possible before we had to go to the airport. It reminded me that no matter what we go through in life that as long as we have each other everything is going to work out just as it should.”

Her: “So I can’t pinpoint one date in particular that I would say is my favorite, BUT when I’ve been stressed or tired, or if we just haven’t been out in awhile Zach will plan something called “Special Lady Night” and he literally just fills the day/night with all of my favorite things, favorite food, favorite show/movie, etc. It just always make me feel really….well, special!

What are some fun sayings you two have developed?

“Oh my gosh, they come and they go so fast. We call the rumble strips on the side of the road “wake me up buttercups” and for the life of me I can’t remember what we started referring to them as that. I’ll sometimes yell “SPIDER MONKEY” at Zach at random times and then just going running at him and jump up in the air, he hasn’t dropped me yet, HA! My favorite thing is Zach is always singing so a lot of times around our house, in the car or when walking the dog we’re just making up our own lyrics to different songs together. I don’t think I’m a great singer, but Zach makes me feel like I’m Mariah Carey LOL!”

Looking back, what was your favorite moment of your wedding day?

Him: “For me it was seeing Christine in her dress. I imagined how I would feel seeing her in it for the first time and she looked so much more beautiful than I could have imagined.”

Her: “My favorite moment was during the unity ceremony. We used sand instead of candles and as we were pouring the sand in some of it was lighter and almost fluffy and it started flying everywhere. I was laughing, Zach was laughing, the pastor was cracking up. It just reminded me of how much laughter and joy our future was going to hold.”

What would you tell yourself if you could go back to the the morning of your wedding?

Him: “Not a thing.”

Her: “Don’t worry about all of the little details, everything will work out just as it should and at the end of the day you’re just going to be excited to hang out with your BFF husband and put on some sweat pants LOL!”
