A Downtown Chicago Engagement

The Goedde Family Session

Golden hour, spring blooms, and two cuties wildly in love? YES, PLEASE. 😍 Rachel and Blake’s downtown Newburgh, Indiana engagement session was the perfect blend of fun, romantic, and effortlessly joyful. With charming streets, cozy corners, and sunshine pouring in at just the right moments, this session captured their playful energy and sweet connection in the most magical way! From strolling hand-in-hand down Jennings Street to sneaking kisses by ivy-covered walls, every frame was filled with laughter, love, and all the just-engaged giddiness. We’re OBSESSED.

Meet Rachel & Blake 💍

How did you meet?

We met on a dating app! Blake was the first guy I swiped right on!

What was your first date?

After a month of texting back and forth, Blake and I finally set our first date. We went to a local bar to grab a drink. A friend texted me afterwards to see how it went and I told her I could actually see it going somewhere with Blake. Now here we are planning our wedding!

When did you start dating?

We started dating on February 12, 2022.

When did you get engaged?

We got engaged on February 21, 2025 after just over three years of dating.

How did he propose? Tell us the whole story!!

Blake had some friends in town and made plans for us all to go golfing at Club 18, an indoor golfing place. I am terrible at golf, so I just thought I’d go and hang out with the boys, but when we got there, the manager insisted that I go first. After some arguing, I got up to the tee, swung, and when the golf ball hit the screen, it changed from a golf scene to a slide that said “Will you marry me?” Blake then came out and proposed! He even surprised me by inviting my sister and her husband to town to celebrate with us!

What’s your favorite way to spend the weekend?

We love morning runs at the river with a post-run coffee, disc golfing, bowling, and hitting up our favorite local restaurants.

For the bride: What are three things you love about your groom?

I love how Blake’s smile lights up every room. He is everyone’s hype man and brings such a fun energy wherever he goes (my sister calls him the energizer bunny). I also love Blake’s passion for his career.

For the groom: What are three things you love about your bride?

I love that Rachel is easy going. She loves to surprise me with little gifts when I am having a bad day or celebrating an accomplishment and she always makes me laugh.

What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been?

Myrtle Beach! We vacationed there with Blake’s family last summer and had a blast!

Do you have any pets together?

Yes! We recently adopted a cat named Bowsy.

Do you have a favorite date you’ve ever been on together?

A few years ago, Blake was coaching at Wright State University. During that time, the Wright State basketball team made the March Madness first four. We were able to get tickets to the game in Dayton since Blake worked there. It was one of our first dates, but still one of our favorites!

Is there anything else you’d like us to know?

We’re just so excited to get married and start our life together!

The Details of Their Session ✨

What was your favorite part of the engagement session?

We planned to have our engagement session down by the river in Newburgh, but the river flooded all the walking paths due to a lot of storms we had the week before. Bret and Brandie were able to quickly change gears and find so many other cool spots to take our pictures. My favorite moment was probably when we took a picture by a flowering tree. While Brandie captured the spots, Bret pulled flowers off the tree and threw them in front of the camera to get some really cool pics!

Bride, did you get your hair & makeup professionally done for your session?

I’m a do-it-yourself girlie, so I did my own!

Where did her outfits come from?

The top was from Amazon and the jeans were from American Eagle.

Where did his outfits come from?

Blake’s shirt was a gift from me and his flannel was a gift from his grandma. His jeans are forever old. He has probably had them since high school lol

Advice for other couples who are prepping for their engagement session?

Just relax and let your photographers capture the magic!
