Erin & Charleston’s Owensboro Kentucky Wedding

Tell us a bit about your wedding!!

“Our ceremony was located in a catholic cathedral since Erin is catholic. The church is absolutely beautiful..so beautiful that we didn’t have a single decoration inside of it. The bridesmaid’s dresses and groomsmen’s ties were a taupe/truffle color (very neutral). We added color to our day with pops of rust/terracotta, light peach, ivory, greenery, and very subtle hints of blue in our florals and decor. The reception was to follow at Owensboro Convention Center that is located directly on the Ohio River. The vibe we wanted for the day was clean, romantic, whimsical, and modern.”

What did you learn throughout wedding planning?

“Hire a wedding planner from the start. Don’t buy a house, graduate from school, have to study for boards, and then find a job all the summer before the wedding….. but in case you were wondering we survived it all and even though it was stressful we are so glad we did it all!”

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

“Having the best friends and family right by our sides through it all! It takes a village and we have one of the best!”

Did you go on a honeymoon?! If yes, where did you go?

“Yes! Sandals Montego Bay, Jamaica”

Favorite honeymoon memory?

“Wouldn’t you like to know 🙃 Just kidding! We are still here..but so far, our favorite thing is probably the excursion we did that consisted of riding a speed boat to go snorkel and cliff jump!”

Did you two do a first look? Tell us about it!!

“Yes! To ease our nerves and to knock some pictures out so we didn’t need to do as many after the ceremony!  It was perfect! The weather, the scenery, and my god did Erin look good 🔥. And of course our wedding party looking down on us from the hotel rooms!”

What’s next? What are you two planning on tackling next in life?

“Sitting back and enjoying the ride. Whatever takes place we know that it’s suppose to happen!”

For the bride: What are three things you love about your groom?

“I love… • his love for life • when he laughs so hard he can barely keep his eyes open • how much he loves his people and me ❤️”

For the groom: What are three things you love about your bride?

“1. She has the biggest heart 2. The way she cares for people and is always putting others first. 3. The way she loves. The good times and the bad times you can always count on her!”

Bride tell us a bit about who was the most helpful in helping you pull off your dream wedding?

“We truly don’t know where to start! Our parents were our rock. Bret and Brandie and their timeline saved the day and made the whole day smooth.”

Advice for other couples who are planning their own wedding right now?

“Knock out as much as possible right out of the gate and don’t forget to soak it all in!”

Did anything hilarious/unexpected happen?!

“The DJ called us 1 hour before the rehearsal to tell us he tested positive for Covid. Thankfully he had a guy to fill his spot that did a great job! Erin is a UK fan and Charleston is an IU fan. Erin’s garter was UK and Charleston was quite surprised to find a bright blue UK garter when he lifted up Erin’s dress 🤪”

What is something unique you incorporated into your wedding?

“It was on 9-11 so we had a “in honor of” table for the ones that lost their lives and also had a moment of silence.”

First dance song?

“Joy Of My Life- Chris Stapleton”

Ceremony music?

“James from St Stephens played the piano and Jenny Holstein sang!”

How big was your wedding party?

“9 bridesmaids, 9 groomsmen, 2 ushers, 4 flower girls. Erin’s mother was her Matron of Honor and Charlestons dad was his Best Man but we didn’t give either of them any of the responsibilities to make sure they relaxed and enjoyed the day.”

Reception dinner: buffet or served?

“Plated dinners were served.”

Reception: open bar or cash bar?

“Open bar consisted of Draft Beer (Michelob Ultra and Busch Light), Wine (Cabernet, Pinot Grigio, and White Zinfandel), Signature Drink called “Roscoe Red” (Vodka, Cranberry, Splash of Sprite, and Like Garnish). We also have a cash bar option.”

What dessert did you serve at your reception?

“Cupcakes! Chocolate, Strawberry, and Funfetti.”

Did you give out a wedding favor? If yes, what was it?

“No..however, Erin gave her bridesmaids fake microphones to sing all night and they quickly became a hit with all the guests!”
