Downtown Evansville Engagement Session

Pop quiz!! What is one of our favorite parts of the wedding experience with Bret and Brandie Photography???  Answer:  ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS!!

While we absolutely live for wedding days, there is just something so incredible about spending this time with our couples!!  Getting the chance to love & serve our clients makes our hearts full of joy.  All the planning, talking and dreaming fuels our creativity in so many ways. We work with each couple to craft the perfect evening to celebrate this special season of life!  From nailing down the perfect outfits, to brainstorming the locations…squeezing in just a few more hours of quality time with our bride and grooms leaves us feeling great!  Every session is magical.  And this dreamy session was no exception!

Exploring downtown Evansville with Kara and John was so, so much fun!! We started the session off in the Main Street area of downtown.  The hazy sunlight reflecting of the long brick road & the character of the old buildings was simply stunning!!  The moment these two stepped out of their truck, we just knew that our evening together was going to be incredible!  We spent the next couple of hours walking around and stopping at all of the prettiest spots!  We loved that Kara let out a little yelp of excitement every time we found the perfect spot!  She’d snuggle up to John and before we knew it, they were grinning ear to ear at each other.

Ooooh and watching these two laugh together was like something straight out of a movie.  It is so apparent that they share an insatiable love.  Our time with this sweet couple only made us that much MORE excited for their wedding in December!  YAY!  Let the countdown begin, Kara and John!!

Their First Date

“John and I both loved listening to Jazz music. Our first date was at a local bar, The Apple. That night, The Apple was hosting the Jazz Orchestra and MSU Blue from Murray State to play. Even though we weren’t of age to drink, we thought it would be cool to go have some food with our friends. We actually went on a double date with John’s roommate and his girlfriend. It was a night to remember!” – Kara

The Proposal

“We decided to go to Garden of the Gods to go on a hike through the Shawnee National Forest. I had brought Kara’s engagement ring in hopes of finding the perfect romantic spot to propose. There was a motorcycle festival in town that day so it was very crowded and no place to get Kara alone. We finished the first trail and decided to stop and have a romantic picnic. We, then, found a second trail through the woods to explore a little more. There was a small secluded cliff that overlooked the other side of the forest and I decided that was the perfect spot. However, I didn’t write down what I had planned to say and everything that I had worked up in my head had disappeared. I was more nervous than I ever thought I would be and at one point I even said, “I don’t know what to say.” So, I quietly got down on one knee and asked Kara to marry me and she laughed and said yes. Then, we continued on the trail which ended up taking two and a half hours to complete, including getting lost and not knowing how to get out. It will be a memory neither of us will ever forget.” – John
