Sweet Ferdinand, IN Engagement Session

Meet Olivia and Kyle, one of the sweetest, most endearing couples that we have had the pleasure to work with in southern Indiana. Olivia and Kyle booked with us a super long time ago, so we were jumping with joy when they contacted us to schedule their engagement session. That could only mean that we were getting closer to their big day! From the moment that we met them, you could feel the love and passion that these two had for each other.

At one point, we actually thought about rescheduling Olivia and Kyle’s engagement session because the weather was looking a bit finicky — but what’s new?! Welcome to southern Indiana! After a lot of thought, we decided to keep the session and thank goodness we did because we were greeted with the most magical and wonderful sun EVER! Our first stop was at Sisters of Saint Benedict in Ferdinand, Indiana. This beautiful monastery boasted some of the most ornate architecture, serene gardens, and peaceful walking paths that we have ever seen. I’m not even sure that we could put the beauty of this place into words. I feel that it is important to add that these two totally nailed our Style Guide. So now let’s add it all together: breathtaking scenery + radiant couple + fashionable outfits = WOWZERS!

We had a blast exploring the grounds with Olivia and Kyle. Throughout exploring, we could not help but notice, how obsessed and in-love Kyle is with Olivia. This guy was full of compliments and genuine kind words, not only to his future bride, but also to us — swooooon. He was constantly praising Olivia and lifting her up with warm words. These two light up around each other with everything they do and they were constantly giggling together. We couldn’t ask for more!

One thing that we always tell our couples before every session is to “embrace the awkwardness”. Photos are awkward. We know that and we get that it’s weird to have a camera all up in your business while you’re laughing, but just giggle to each other. We promise you’ll love the outcome. We told them to have fun and enjoy the moment and they did JUST that. Olivia and Kyle didn’t look awkward or seem to feel awkward. They flawlessly nailed the looks and would get tickled with each other which led to even more giggling. It really was the perfect session!

The real adventure began when we ventured to Kyle’s family’s lake house out in the hills of Ferdinand. (That song “over the mountains and through the woods” comes to mind for some reason HA) This adorable quaint house looked right out of a magazine. Add in the lake and the canoe sitting on the bank and you’ve got a scene right from a storybook. We were first greeted by their Goldendoodle, Finn. Like most of our couples’ pets, Finn stole the show. He was an adorable fluffy ball of cuteness. You’ll find me daydreaming of puppy play dates with Carson and Finn on the reg.

After Finn left, we ventured to the lake. The four of us went out on the dock as the sun was setting. Olivia and Kyle snuggled up and enjoyed each moment. We then had them hop in the canoe. Now, that was an adventure all in its own. I am still just in awe of how still and beautiful that moment was, not to mention we really enjoyed watching them try to keep the canoe from flipping over. Every move at that point was a gamble, HA! THEY NAILED IT!
