Traveling gives us SOO much joy! As we plan out our “bucket lists”, there are so many to-do’s that involve travel! Even the smallest of road trips makes our hearts full, but recently we got the chance to travel across the country to Washington, DC. I promise if you give us a road trip or destination engagement session, you’ll make us the happiest photographers in the world!! Recently Caitlin and Jason did just that!! We originally met with these two through FaceTime and Skype calls so you can only imagine the excitement we felt to FINALLY meet them! We love love LOVE finally getting to meet our couples from around the country!
Since there are a few states in between us, we planned to travel to DC for a few days for their sweet engagement session (and to also be tourists, HA). As we made our way across the country, our excitement continued to grow! We could not wait to meet Caitlin and Jason!! We instantly fell in love with them over FaceTime, so we absolutely could not wait to meet them in real life! We just knew that we were going to be instant BFFs and we so were!!
We started their session off right outside Leesburg, Virginia at the Stone Tower Winery. This winery is a family-owned premium winery in the rolling hills of Virginia and it was home to the most magically glorious vineyard we’ve ever seen. The property was GORGEOUS! Stone Tower Winery just happens to be where they will celebrate with their family and friends in April 2020 on their wedding day — how awesome is that?!
During the first half of their session we were so excited to explore the venue! You all, the photo possibilities were endless! I can’t even put into words the beauty of this place! We ventured into the vineyards and had the best time ever! A little bit into the session we started to feel some rain drops and we got a little nervous, but that didn’t stop Caitlin and Jason! My favorite moment of the whole session was how determined Caitlin was to knock out a few more photos — she was going to get the perfect shots rain or shine (our favorite kind of bride 🙂 ) We got some WONDERFUL shots even though it rained a bit and we laughed the entire time dodging all of the raindrops. As we headed back up the hill from the vineyard, it was a much longer hike than we anticipated, LOL. We used our reflector as a makeshift umbrella to protect Caitlin’s PERFECT hair and makeup because #PRIORITIES.
Once we were back, we took some time to walk through where they’ll be having their reception next Spring. We LOVED getting to check out the space and scope out some more photo opportunities for their big day! Next, we went to downtown Leesburg for the remainder of their session! OMG, downtown Leesburg was seriously one of the cutest little towns we have ever gotten to explore! It was so stinking delightful and even had brick-paved roads!! The town was dripping with charm and full of gorgeous colors!! There is just something so sweet about little character-filled towns!
We spent the last little bit of the session letting Caitlin and Jason show us around and finding spots to tuck into for some snuggles! It was the perfect ending to our night! This session has us SO excited to see them again in the Spring so they can say “I do”. WE CANNOT WAIT!!!
