Kaley and Devon are MARRIED!! Woo!!! After rescheduling due to COVID & replanning pretty much the entire wedding, these two tied the knot on a BEAUTIFUL fall day surrounded by their sweet family and friends. It was the definition of the perfect day in every way!!😍 Read alllll the fun details in Kaley & Devon’s featured Q&A below!!
“We spent so much time trying to plan the perfect day while we were living in Texas. We then moved to Florida when COVID happened and all of our plans went south. We had to reschedule for the fall (which we never thought we would do since Kaley is a teacher). We had to settle for a Friday night wedding since our vendors couldn’t all move to a Saturday. We also had to do a first look since our wedding was now at 5:00 at night (something else we never thought we would do). Bachelor and Bachelorette parties got cancelled, rescheduled, and cancelled again.
After all of the rescheduling, planning, and stress, we learned that the only thing that mattered was that we got married (FINALLY!) and we were surrounded by the people that we love when we officially tied the knot. It ended up being the absolute perfect day regardless of all the obstacles! It made us focus less on the tiny details about the day we wanted, and it made us more thankful of the people that were able to be there. Many times throughout the planning process, we thought that we weren’t going to have this privilege. We are over the moon that our day included these special people, and that we can finally call each other husband and wife!”
“Our wedding ceremony was at Blue Grass Church in Evansville, Indiana. This was important to us because Kaley grew up knowing the pastor through the church camp she went to as a kid, and then working as a counselor alongside him. Kaley’s grandparents also attend the church!
The reception was at the Evansville Country Club on a beautiful fall day! The colors were warm, fall, copper tones: tan, burnt orange, rust, gold, gray, beige. The fall flowers were one of the bride’s favorite parts of the wedding reception (the pampas grass especially!). What made the wedding reception special was the cozy and homey vibe of the Evansville Country Club, the outdoor cocktail hour with fire pits and a view of downtown Evansville, and the sparkler photo op with family and the wedding party.”
“The reception was our favorite part of the wedding day! All of the pressure was finally off, and we could finally let loose and celebrate with all of our friends and family.”
“We did a first look. We had to do a first look because of the timing of our ceremony. It ended up being so nice to have our pictures done with before the ceremony. Our wedding party very much appreciated it.”
“I think we were both kind of nervous! Once we saw each other and went in for the first hug and kiss, it felt like nobody else was watching. It ended up being super comfortable and less pressure than we thought.”
“He is the most fun person I know! Life with him is always an adventure. He is truly the life of every party and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I also love how kind and caring he is about me and others. In college, he always made sure my friends got home safe, even if it meant him walking them home in the freezing cold weather. He wakes up early every morning to make me coffee, breakfast, and packs me a lunch for work. Another thing I love about my groom is his love for family. He truly loves his family more than anything. We are flying back to our hometown the day after our honeymoon because he refuses to miss Thanksgiving (which is amazing). I know that I will always be well taken care of now that I am a part of his family, and he will be the most amazing dad!”
“My bride is one of the most caring people that I have ever met in my life. Whether it is with her family or her job, she is always putting others before herself. Hearing her talk about her students from work and how excited she gets about it is something that I have always loved. She goes above and beyond what is expected of her and ensures that she puts them in the best possible position to be successful. Kaley is very adventurous and is always planning exciting things for us to do wherever we are. She also puts on a happy face when I take a weekend trip or day and throw in a sporting event to go to. Our past few falls have been filled with different college football campuses and stadiums, and she is a perfect travel partner! I am very excited for a lifetime of adventures with her. Kaley is hardworking and has adapted to moving across the country two different times. I moved to Texas right after school for work, and two years after her settling into a new job and city I asked her to move to Orlando for my job again, all while planning a wedding! She was able to get a new job within two weeks and we moved across the country 6 months before we were supposed to get married. I am a very lucky man to have Kaley as my wife, and she made the most beautiful bride!”
“My mom hands down. She did literally everything. It was difficult for me to plan because of how far away I was living in Florida. I also started 2 new teaching jobs within the past year, so I was pretty much always busy with work. Her, Devon, and Devon’s mom definitely did a lot of the planning. My mom sent out all of our save the dates and invitations. She booked the musicians for my ceremony last minute. She was working on wedding details nonstop for months up until the wedding. She did an amazing job because the day was absolutely beautiful. Without my mom, I would not have had my dream wedding, so I am beyond thankful.”
“Don’t be afraid to think outside the box! Whenever I had to reschedule my wedding, it ended up being a completely different experience than the first wedding would have been. We moved it to a Friday night, I was able to do fall colors because I moved it to October, we did cocktail hour outside with fire pits and lights, we did a sparkler photo op, we did a first look, and our music ended up being completely different than what was originally planned! So many details that I didn’t think I could do the first time around, but I ended up being so happy that I made these special changes.”
“I don’t think I would call this hilarious, more like stressful, but my zipper on my wedding dress would not zip up. It took 4 people and about 5-10 minutes to get it to zip all the way. At the reception, the groom’s little sister accidentally got too close to a fire pit and burned a hole in her bridesmaid dress!”
