What BIG lesson did you learn throughout your engagement?

“Teamwork. Knocking out the hard stuff doesn’t always seem like the hard stuff when you have help from your best friend.”

Tell us a bit about your wedding!

“Our wedding was in Owensboro, Kentucky. It was where the bride grew up. I always wanted a patio reception at the RiverPark Center. Colors were pinks, golds, and creams. I was going for a timeless and classic vibe. A month before the wedding, we found our getaway car, a ’58 pink Cadillac, which was the icing on the cake.”

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

“We loved seeing each other for the first time during our first look and watching all of the little details come together after months of hard work.”

Did you go on a honeymoon?

“Yes! Italy! We traveled to Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Rome, Venice, and Florence”

Favorite honeymoon memory?

“Missing our luggage for the first 5 days. Haha, just kidding. Probably the blue grotto and lunch on the Amalfi coast.”

Did you two do a first look?

“Yes. We wanted to spend our wedding day together and have that intimate first moment with just us. It was in my parents’ backyard. It was in front of the magnolia tree that started to bloom and the weather was perfect. It was just us and the sweetest moment seeing each other for the first time.”

What’s next? What are you two planning on tackling next in life?

“Finishing up house projects, planning a trip in the fall, and enjoying life as husband and wife.”

“His intentionality, ability to always make me laugh (and smile), and his eyes.”

“She is thoughtful, her wittiness, and her intelligence.”

Kaitlin, tell us who helped you pull off your dream wedding?

“Justin, my parents, wedding coordinator (Megan), insight from bridesmaids, and friends. My mom was definitely there with me every step of the way and helped my vision come to life.”

Advice for other couples who are planning their own wedding right now?

“Breathe. Don’t sweat the little details. Some things like the getaway car you find a month out. Other little things you look back and realize they didn’t matter. Stick to your gut.”

Did anything hilarious/unexpected happen?!

“I would have to say Mark Freer and Paul Cunnigham’s dance to Pour Some Sugar on Me was a total hilarious highlight at the reception. But if you know both of these men, it was not unexpected haha!”

What is something unique you incorporated into your wedding?

“We tried to take pictures with each table before a song ended at the reception. Guests loved it. We also really liked the audio guest book, After the Tone. The Photo Booth with the bridge in the background was a total hit. My bridal bouquet flowers came from a great friend, Ella King. They were my something borrowed. My brother Elliott’s charm on my bouquet and bracelet from Justin were something blue. The bracelet also counted for something new. The scripture reading during the ceremony was from Elliott’s Bible.”

“At Last by Etta James”

“Can’t Help Falling in Love, Kina Grannis version”

How big was your wedding party?

“6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen”

Reception dinner: buffet or served?

“Buffet”

Reception: open bar or cash bar?

“Open bar”

What dessert did you serve at your reception?

“Cake by the incredible Terri Hobgood. Not a slice was left over haha.”

What has been your favorite part of working with B&B?

“They give 110% at everything the do for the bride and groom. They are organized, fun, and your favorite hype team. They are there to make your day special and intentionally check on you all day to make sure everything is going as planned. They really capture the vision for your day.”
