Abbey and Matt’s Engagement Session

New Harmony, Indiana is such a cute and charming town, perfect for a dreamy engagement session like this one!! 😍 We had a blast with Abbey and Matt…full of love, laughter, and all the snuggles! These two are just adorable together!! They seem so wildly in love and like best friends…which is the best kind of love!!

We spent our evening exploring New Harmony by golf cart with these two and did a mix of vibes…from golfing to fields to cutie town-themed photos…It all felt very “Abbey and Matt” which was SO FUN!!  Every spot was a new adventure, and their joy was contagious! WE ARE OBSESSED!! We can’t wait for their wedding next year…let the wedding countdown begin!!!✨

How did you meet?

“Good old fashioned dating app 😉”

What was your first date?

“Our first date was December 26, 2022. We went to Bonefish for dinner, then went back to Matt’s house to watch the Grinch! Neither of us were ready for the date to end after the movie, so we scrolled Netflix for a long time trying to find something else to watch. Matt told Abbey to let him know if something caught her eye. After a few minutes, Abbey saw a documentary called Sea Wolves and asked to watch it. Matt said “Sea Wolves… out of everything on Netflix, THIS is what caught your eye…?” Spoiler: they watched all three episodes that night and loved it”

When did you start dating?

“Matt asked Abbey to be his girlfriend at midnight on New Years Eve, at the end of their third date.”

What would the perfect date night look like or include?

“Food! We love food and anything involving good food makes us very happy. It might also include either golf, traveling somewhere new, or hiking with Abbey’s dog.”

When did you get engaged?

“March 31, 2024”

How did he propose?!

“Abbey came home late at night from a weekend in training for work. She opened the back door to the house with her arms full of luggage and saw a lit isle and purple rose petals on the floor, tables along the lit isle with flowers on top and fairy lights, and framed pictures at the base. Enchanted by Taylor Swift (Abbey’s favorite love song) was playing. Matt was waiting for her in the living room to propose in his favorite dog shirt. The next morning, they found Abbey’s suitcase on the back porch. Apparently she left it there when she opened the door and saw the surprise!”

What are your favorite activities to do together?

“We love golfing (and by “we”, I mean Matt loves golfing and Abbey loves tagging along for the ride. We travel quite a bit and try to go somewhere every spare weekend we have! (Usually we are traveling to play new golf courses 🤭). We also love cooking and trying new recipes, hiking, going for walks in the evening, hosting family dinners, and cheering on our nieces and nephew at their sporting events!”

What are your favorite movies?

“The Grinch definitely is top of the list! We aren’t big into movies – we are more of a documentary couple”

What is your favorite drink?

“Abbey- Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew from Starbucks (or coffee at home) Matt – Ski”

What’s your favorite animal?

“Any big animal! But large dogs probably is our top favorite”

What’s your favorite way to spend the weekend?

“We always start every Saturday and Sunday morning that Abbey is home by getting Matt a fizzy (Ski) and Abbey a coffee, usually just made at home. If we’re lucky, our nieces and/or nephew have an event we can go support them at in the afternoon. And we end the evening by making a huge dinner for family with appetizers and dessert. Matt really loves when he can use all three grills for one meal so we really strive for that most weekends 😇”

For the bride: What are three things you love about your groom?

“I love Matt’s sense of humor – you are never not laughing when you’re around him! I love how compassionate he is. Almost every single day he asks what he can do to make my day better. When I’m stressed or upset, the first thing he says is “How can I help?”. And no favor is too big from anyone he loves. He is also incredibly handsome 😉 which is just the cherry on top to being such a great man!”

For the groom: What are three things you love about your bride?

“I love how excited Abbey gets about small things I love how Abbey is always ready to go on adventures with me I love Abbey’s smile and her eyes That Abbey enjoys coming with me to new golf courses even though she doesn’t play and just wants to spend time with me Abbey loves surprising me with fun things like Robert’s stadium aces seats.”

What do you both do for a living?

“Matt is a mechanical engineer at Three i Design and Abbey is a pilot for American Airlines”

If you could go anywhere on a vacation, where would you go?

“There are too many places to even start to answer this questions!! Probably New Zealand, African safari, Patagonia, or Scotland for a golfing trip”

What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been?

“Belize! We went with Abbey’s family for Christmas last year and we absolutely fell in love with the country, the people, the food, and the adventure that is there!”

Do you have any pets together?

“Abbey has a German shepherd named Nestle. Matt has a black lab named Manti.”

What was your favorite part of the engagement session?

“Riding around in the golf cart just hanging out! (And maybe almost falling off once or twice)”

Bride, did you get your hair & makeup professionally done for your session?

“Nope! I don’t wear a lot of makeup normally so I just put on some powder, blush and mascara and kept it simple! I actually loved it. And my hair… well let’s just say it had plans of its own. It was straight in the first couple pictures 🤣 poor Brandie spent more time working on my hair than she did anything else that day!”

Where did her outfits come from?

“Both of Abbey’s dresses are from Amazon! And both sets of shoes are old shoes Abbey’s had for years and staples in her closet.”

Where did his outfits come from?

“Both of Matt’s pants and shorts came from Costco – they are his favorite!! His golf pop he has had for years and the floral button down is from Men’s Warehouse.”

Advice for other couples who are prepping for their engagement session?

“Make sure you LOVE your outfit and are 100% comfortable in it! You will be more relaxed for photos that way.

And stop stressing over every single detail for the shoot – Bret and Brandie got you covered and will get incredible shots!!”
