Emily and Josh’s Botanical Garden Engagement Session

Cue all the heart eyes because Emily and Josh’s engagement session was straight-up MAGIC!! We had the absolute besttime with these two lovebirds…from the second we started shooting, it was clear that they’re not just madly in love, they’re truly best friends. Their chemistry? Effortless. Their joy? Contagious. Their session? A literal dream.😍

We wandered through the botanical gardens, chasing sunshine and giggles, and soaking in the sweetest little moments along the way. Emily and Josh are the kind of couple that makes our job as photographers feel like a dream. The way they laugh together, look at each other and move through the world as a team… it’s just the sweetest thing to witness.✨

We truly count ourselves so lucky to know them, and even luckier to get to celebrate this season of life alongside them. To know them is to love them  and we are OBSESSED!!! And now we’re officially counting down the days until their wedding!!! Let the countdown begin! 🥂

How did you meet?!

“After swinging and missing on Tinder, Emily finally responded to Josh on Hinge and their love just blossomed from there.”

What was your first date?!

“Josh’s POV : Josh asked Emily out to dinner. On the way there he couldn’t get a word out because Emily had a 10 minute cough attack that was aggressive enough to cause concern. Josh contemplated turning around but Emily was so impressed by Josh’s looks that she insisted that the date go on! They ended up going to dinner and talked about all of their dreams and aspirations. They enjoyed each other’s company so much that they ended up walking back and forth by the river for an hour or so.”

How did he propose?! And when did you get engaged?

“We got engaged on February 5th, 2025! Josh had planned a date night for us in Newburgh at our favorite restaurant Cafe Arazu! Before leaving I remember josh asking me if he needed to change because we were matching in our red sweaters. I told him it didn’t matter and that no one would see us anyways .. lol. Once we arrived Josh asked if I wanted to go on a walk by the river because we were so early to dinner. While walking I was just talking his ear off about random things completely oblivious to the fact he was trying to walk slow and talk about our future & past. I made a comment to josh that this felt like our first date while we were walking up to the restaurant and when I tuned around he was on one knee!! I don’t 100% remember what all he said after that because I was in complete shock! It was the best moment of my life ❤️❤️”

What are three things you love about your groom?

“Josh is truly one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He lights up a room when he enters and knows how to make everyone smile. Another thing I love is how driven and passionate josh is, he is always working to better himself and those around him.”

What are three things you love about your bride?

“Emily is the most caring and compassionate person I know. She always has my best interests in mind and she’s willing to sacrifice for me and our little family. She’s a very beautiful person inside and out – and my best friend.”

What’s your favorite way to spend the weekend?

“A perfect weekend for us looks like a short weekend trip to Bloomington for a tailgate and a football game or relaxing around the house, hanging with the pups – Rory and Heidi. We love taking them for walks and going to local coffee shops. Em is learning the game of golf so some rounds of golf may be in the near future.”

“We have two doodles- Rory & Heidi!”

What was your favorite part of the engagement session?

“It’s hard to pick one thing.. everything was perfect!!! Josh & I felt so comfortable with Bret & Brandie. We couldn’t have asked for a better location, team & day!”
