What We Learned | #TuesdaysTogether

For Creatives

June 2018 | Evansville, Indiana

Woohoo!! Yesterday was our FAV day of the month!  Why?  Because it was #TuesdaysTogether!!  We’ve already raved about how much we LOVE the Rising Tide Society (read more here), but today we wanted to share what we learned last night!

Our TuesdaysTogether meetings are always on the second Tuesday of the month, and it’s when the local chapter of the Rising Tide Society gathers together to dive into various topics.  We spend the evening chatting over snacks and wine about allllll things small business!  This month’s topic of discussion was SEO.  We met with several Evansville area creatives and jumped right in to helping each other figure out the best game plan!

SEO (or Search Engine Optimization) is the nitty-gritty, super techy stuff that allows a search engine (think Google) to find relevant information.  As a small business owner in 2018, it is VITAL to have great content on the web that is easily found.  But, ooooh is it a scary task to tackle.  There are SO many habits, keywording, tagging, ‘do this’ and ‘do thats’…It’s enough to make your brain spin!

But, here are the three biggest lessons we learned last night & how we plan to implement these new helpful tricks!

1.Reviews

Having great reviews on several platforms gives your business a little bump in the internet world!  Plus, when a potential client stumbles upon your name, think of the impact of a good first impression!  We plan to be more active and vocal about asking if our clients will share their experience online!

2.DMO

The RTS hosted a GREAT webinar led by Myrna Daramy.  She filled our heads with alllll the tips!!  Our biggest takeaway was the importance of DMO (or Digital Media Optimization).  She stressed the importance of a wholesome web presence.  She says that while great SEO on your website is essential, Myrna encouraged us to examine every aspect of our brand on various sites.  We are checking and double checking that our Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and all other forms of social media are consistent and cohesive.

3.Google My Business

We read a great article in the RTS June 2018 guide, that shared the importance of having a Google My Business profile.  This one seemed the most obvious, because, it’s a part of Google.  And Google is the mega search engine!!  We plan to dive into our Google My Business listing just to confirm that our info is up to date and easy for the internet world to find us!

We left our meeting last night with so much information floating around in our heads and our hearts SO full!  Knowing that we are all in this together somehow makes SEO a just little less scary!  Are you a local creative craving community?  Check out the Rising Tide Society today!
