A Sweet Spring Maternity Session in Owensboro

Ahh!! Photographing this sweet baby bump was SO FUN and well, pretty much made us the happiest humans alive!!  We’ve had the honor of taking photos for Kayla & Grant’s engagement AND wedding back in 2016…and now seeing them as parents-to-be is just the most amazing thing!! When we met up with them in downtown Owensboro we giggled with glee!  We reminisced on their wedding day and excitedly played catch-up in between obsessing over that bump! Our hearts are just so full of joy for these two!  We love and adore Kayla and Grant more than anything and cannot wait to watch them become the best parents ever!!

What is the due date for the baby?

“April 28, 2021”

How did the happy parents meet?

“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… Okay not really, but that’s what Grant likes to say because we have been together for what seems like ages! Kayla was childhood friends with his sister Molly, so she has always been around the family. In high school, Molly and Kayla started hanging out with Grant’s friends which soon sparked a friendship between Grant and Kayla. They became high school sweethearts in 2009 and the rest is history! We have been through many adventures and life events over the last 11 years and can’t wait to welcome this sweet baby into our family!”

Where did each parent-to-be grow up?

“Both born and raised in Owensboro, KY and can’t wait for our little sweetness to do the same!”

What has mom craved the most during pregnancy?

“ALLL the Chocolate Chip Pancakes! Grant makes them for Kayla every Saturday and Sunday”

What was the first thing you two did when you found out you were expecting?

“Kayla was in complete shock and was at a loss for words! Grant could see the anxiety stirring in Kayla by the second. He responded with a simple, “We got this.””

What was the first thing you bought for the baby?

“Freshly remodeled home! We had been remodeling our home for the past year, just doing little bits at a time. As soon as we found out we were pregnant we got our butts in gear (by we, I mean Grant ha!) and finished the home of dreams, so we could start a whole new one!”

What was each parent-to-be’s first word?

“Kayla’s – dada — Grant’s – more”

What’s been your favorite memory of pregnancy thus far?

‘Feeling the little baby flutters and kicks for the first time was by far the best moment for Kayla! It was so strange and yet unbelievably amazing! Grant on the other hand wasn’t so giddy… The first time he felt the baby move, he immediately jumped back and yelled, “What the hell?!””

Who is more likely to get up in the middle of the night with the baby?

“Hopefully there will be a shared effort in this… But Grant likes to remind Kayla that she loves her sleep and definitely needs it haha!”

Who will be more nervous when labor starts?

“Kayla for sure!! The anxiety has already set in and many overwhelming feelings. Grant is always there to provide comfort though.”

Which parent is more likely to enforce the rules?

“Grant likes to think he will be “the enforcer.” Kayla is going to let him keep thinking this way even though he’s already made many comments about the baby turning him into a softy. Plus Grant is like a big kid himself and will have way too much fun with it!”

Which parent will the baby look like?

“Based on ultrasounds, we are thinking Grant! At the anatomy scan, there was picture of the baby’s thighs that were hands down Tichenor thighs! Sounds weird I know, but trust me it was like looking at Grant!”

Who will change the most diapers?

“Kayla has more experience, but it might go to Grant on this one. Kayla gets a bit squeamish when it comes to #2 diapers.”
