Washington D.C. Destination Engagement

If you follow us on social media, you probably saw the influx of posts last week while we got to venture to Washington, DC for an amazing destination engagement session with Megan & Connor. If you paid attention at all, you know without a doubt that these sessions were the definition of perfection. Megan & Connor happen to be from our area in the Midwest and we were one of the first calls when Connor popped the question  – how lucky are we?!?! When we first met with these two, we jokingly discussed traveling to their home in DC to shoot and then it quickly snowballed into ‘Holy cow! We’re going to Washington, DC to shoot an engagement session!’ We came to find that the history of the DC area meant a lot to Connor and being able to shoot on their farm on the outskirts of the city meant the world to Megan. We had an absolute blast strolling through Washington, DC with these two for their engagement session.

Let us first start off by saying that we are NOT morning people. Nope, nope, nope. We tend to need A LOT of coffee if we are out of bed before the sun rises, but oh my word, sunrise never looked as good as it did in Washington, DC that Friday morning! If we ever needed a reason to schedule a sunrise session, look no further! We practically had the entire Jefferson Memorial to ourselves.  As Megan & Connor ventured up the stairs to the Jefferson Memorial, we just stood back and smiled at the life we live. This was such an eye-opening, cool moment for us – this is our ‘job’! We get to capture the love of those around us for a living. Megan & Connor have the kind of love you can feel immediately in their presence— so sincere, so unwavering, and so joyful! It was so obvious through our lenses.

Next up, we headed to Connor’s place of work – the Capitol building (how cool is that?!!?) He was very eager to show us around and we couldn’t hide our anticipation. We were awfully impressed with the details and facts that he shot at us during our own personal insider tour. We snapped a few pictures inside and then headed out to get some pictures on the outside of the building. Not only is this building impressive architecturally, but we had some pretty amazing clients in front of us to add the ultimate wow factor. They looked unbelievably flawless. If you think we’re joking, just ask the people passing by that stopped to oooh, aaah, and snap pictures of Megan & Connor! Megan looked divine in her navy blue dress – the perfect choice for this downtown session. Our jaws literally dropped when we first saw Megan, and then we can’t forget Connor looking rather dapper in his choice of suit. The charm and character of Washington, DC paired well with their personalities and styles.

Part two of this session took place on the outskirts of Washington, DC at Megan and Connor’s farm. Now we’ve seen farms before being raised in the Midwest, but we have never seen anything like this beautiful, historic farm that was first built in the early 1700s. As they showed us around the gorgeous home, you could see where the home had been added on to throughout the years with different styles and materials. The sunset that we witnessed was to-die-for and we can’t wait for you to see those radiant shots! Once again, Megan showed off her impeccable style with her lacy, flowy, cream-colored dress. Their choices of outfits really stood out in all the sunlight on their property. Our absolute favorite part of this session was teaching these two how to do the “slow & spin dance” – the entire session was filled with belly laughter and giggles. The love between these two was so imminent.

We ended our session with Megan & Connor cooking us dinner – how sweet is that?! During dinner we also planned a Disney trip with the two of them! EEK! So not only did we get to experience one of the most unique sessions thus far with Megan & Connor, but we also have our next Disney trip planned. THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!! We are so extremely blessed and excited to get to capture their big day next summer. Enjoy the sneak peek of their session!
