A Perfectly Rainy Wedding at Westgate Academy

Wedding season is here and we are SO PUMPED!! I literally do not think anyone can comprehend the love that we have for our job and our couples!! From now until winter, our lives will be full of so much love and happiness that I just can’t contain my excitement!! What better way to kick off wedding season than with Megan and Will?!

We love love love love LOVE these two — can you pick up on a trend here?! We instantly hit it off with them when we first met and we seriously adore them SOOOOO much. We first got them in front of our camera in French Lick for their engagement session. We met them on a beautiful evening right at the peak of fall and it was MAGICAL! That session is definitely one of our top 5 fav sessions ever — for real!! We had a blast with them then so I knew their wedding day would be no different. Once we had the planning, the timeline prep, and the field trip out of the way, we were very impatiently counting down the days to Megan and Will tying the knot!

Our excitement was at an all-time high as we ventured up to Montgomery, Indiana for their wedding. Montgomery was a little mini road trip for us so we spent the drive dreaming of what was to come (and there may have been some Taylor Swift involved too)! The weather wasn’t great that day, but I can’t even begin to explain how in awe I was of their spirits!! Typically if the wedding day forecast is less than ideal, it is pretty normal for brides to have a moment (or two) of panic. Megan handled it like a champ!! In her mind, she was still getting to marry Will even if Mother Nature wasn’t going to cooperate. At the end of the day, she would be married and that’s all that mattered. It was rainy and dreary when we arrived and it continued to rain off and on allllllll day. It did not once put a damper on their day though. Megan and Will still celebrated and had the happiest of smiles from ear to ear! 

We met the girls at the salon that morning and the room just exuded happiness! All of the bridesmaids were excitedly giggling and prancing around the room drinking mimosas — I mean why shouldn’t they be?! After Megan got dressed, we took care of her bridal portraits. Megan. Was. Stunning. We did the portraits with the bridesmaids in the room and you could hear a pin drop as Megan’s girls watched her in awe. There were small gasps and oohs and aahs. It was one of the sweetest moments of the entire day! I can’t get enough of watching bridesmaids love on their bride!!

As the rain was continuing to fall, we needed to get Megan to St. Peters Church. Her dad was soo adorable and escorted her the entire way with his umbrella to her first look. It was legitimately one of the sweetest moments watching her dad take care of his little girl in whatever way he could! We set up the first look at the altar. It was so lovely to watch them see each other for the first time at the very same spot they would tie the knot just hours later! 

We spent the rest of the day grabbing fun photos and watching Megan and Will tie the knot in an exquisite, intimate ceremony. After the ceremony, the rain cleared out just in time for bridal party portraits. We also snagged some dreamy images of Megan and Will snuggling outside the church. It was literally the perfect timing (Thank you, Mother Nature). 

After we grabbed our portrait shots, we headed over to Purdue Westgate for their charming reception! The reception was decorated so wonderfully and everything looked fabulous!! We watched as the couple danced the night away with family and friends. There really was a party to be had because the love we witnessed from Megan and Will was so worth celebrating!! Megan and Will, we love you guys so much and we hope you enjoy this sneak peek!!
